Grant Scott admits his side's 2-0 derby defeat to Hearts at Oriam was "embarrassing" for the team.

Goals from Hearts pair Kathleen McGovern and Megan Bell settled the tie, despite the former being sent off after only 20 minutes played.

Only five substitutes were named on the Hibs bench as Scott was left without several key players, but there were no excuses from The Gaffer following the loss.

"We are very, very disappointed in ourselves," Scott told Hibs TV.

"We have not performed to the levels we have recently. It’s borderline embarrassing when you are praising your players in the last few games even in defeat — we had played with a good shape and structure, and had moved the ball and competed well. We did none of those things [versus Hearts] at all. So overall, I'm very disappointed.

"We need to watch it back and take it apart and see what happened. Right now we just feel we had a real off night. For whatever reason, we can’t quite put a finger on it. You have to credit Hearts, they were the better team on the night — with 11 players and 10, which is embarrassing for us. I thought they deserved to win."

It was a baptism of fire for Comfort Erhabor, who was thrust into the starting line-up to make her Hibs debut versus Hearts. Scott is pleased with the loanee's progression and expects more opportunities for the young goalkeeper to play before the end of the season.

"She’s been doing great. We are going to have to use our squad in the coming months, so it was a good game to give her a chance in. Unfortunately she’s conceded but I’m not sure there was much she could have done about both goals. She’s been working and training well, so it was nice to get her on the pitch today."

The result moves fourth-placed Hearts six points clear of Hibs in the SWPL table, but Scott insists there are still plenty of games to go and victories to be picked up elsewhere.

"There’s a lot of points to be played for. Celtic is going to be a really tough match. They’re challenging for the league title, but we’ll go and give it an honest effort. We’ll dust ourselves down and move on."
