A hard-working Hibs would be dismantled by Glasgow City at an overcast Meadowbank.

Hibernian controlled the majority of the first half – but fell behind due to Lauren Davidson’s 12th minute header and failed to capitalise after that point.

After last week’s heroic display against Celtic, Grant Scott named one change to his side. A change of tactics and shape was sought as Tegan Bowie replaced Kirsty Morrison in the starting XI.

The first home game after Joelle Murray ‘s 500th appearance in a Hibs shirt was marked by a touching moment pre-match, where she received a framed shirt to mark the milestone in front of an energetic Meadowbank crowd.

Despite holding firm against last season’s champions, where space and chances were limited in the opening stages, Lauren Davidson sneaked a bullet header past Katie Fraine to open the scoring shortly after 10 minutes.

Pressing throughout the whole game, Hibs first real opportunity came via a well worked Naomi Powell free kick. Directed towards the front post, Murray’s header very nearly bested Lee Gibson, who tipped the effort onto the bar, before hauling away to safety.

Chasing the top-goal scorer award after being named in the PFA Team of The Season alongside Leah Eddie, Jorian Baucom’s scuffed shot also caused problems in the Glasgow City penalty area – but failed to find the back of the net.

Breaking on the counter after some half decent chances from Hibs in the second half – Glasgow City nearly extended their lead, but Katie Fraine kept the score to a minimum, pulling off a fantastic low block from point blank range to deny Emily Whelan.

Our trusty pair of hands would be there to deny again, pulling of another couple of remarkable stops against Whelan, before clutching a curling effort from Davidson in quick succession.
