This will be the second time Triantis has played for Hibs Head Coach, Nick Montgomery – with the defender playing a huge part in the Montgomery’s Central Coast A-League title-winning team last season. A move to the English Championship followed with Sunderland, before penning a loan move till the end of the season with the Hibees!

Born in Sydney, Australia, Nectar is one of eleven children – with two of his older brothers, Chris Triantis and Peter Triantis, both playing professional football in the Australian A-League.

As a youngster, Triantis spent time with Sydney Olympic, before joining Western Sydney Wanderers on a scholarship deal.

It was here where he made his first senior appearance coming on as a second-half substitute against Newcastle Jets, aged 18.

The following year, Triantis made his breakthrough after signing for Nick Montgomery’s Central Coast Mariners in the summer of 2022.

He made his debut in the Australia Cup against Sydney FC in July 2022 and quickly became a mainstay in the starting XI, starting 22 out of 26 matches for the Mariners as a teenager.

That run of games included the A-League Final, where the Mariners triumphed – beating Melbourne City 6-1 to clinch the title for the first time since 2013.

Triantis performances during the 2022/23 campaign received great acclaim with the defender being named on the bench in on the bench in the PFA Team of the Season – a remarkable achievement in his first full season playing senior football.

Following that success, Triantis secured a move to the English Championship joining Sunderland on a four-year deal in June 2023.

Nectar made his league debut for ‘The Black Cats’ in November against Birmingham City – playing the full 90 minutes and setting up the second goal in a 3-1 victory at the Stadium of Light

The centre-back made three appearances in total during the first half of the 2023/24 campaign for Sunderland, topping up the rest of his playing time with the Under-21s squad in Premier League 2.

On the international front, the 6ft 3’ defender has been capped at national level for Australia, representing the Socceroos at Under-20 and Under-23 level.

A natural born leader, the defender has captained the national side at U20s level on several occasions and has represented his country in the U20 Asian Cup.

Now, Triantis will link up with former coaches Nick Montgomery and Sergio Raimundo for the remainder of the season at Hibs, adding strength, depth and composure to the heart of our defence.
