Speaking after the dramatic penalty shoot-out at Petershill Park that secured Hibs a spot in the final eight of the cup, Lawson was quick to compliment her teammates' mental fortitude.

"All the girls are buzzing," the defender told Hibs TV.

"We spoke at half-time and before the game about our character and I think we have shown the character, and what we are about as a team, in abundance today.

"From front to back, we were very good and we are delighted with the result."

Having played an accumulative 300 minutes across three games in the past week - having started and seen out fixtures versus Motherwell and Dundee United before the City clash - Lawson brushed off any concerns over fatigue.

"You’ve got to dig through for the team and for yourself. These things happen, these three games in a week.

"They’re coming thick and fast now coming into the split, so I’m just happy to help the team and get the result today."

On her defensive partnership with goalscorer Leah Eddie, Lawson was pleased with how a change in shape helps the team in to the next round of the Scottish Cup.

"I think we dealt with it very well. Their striker likes to drop in and get it to feet, so we knew we had to follow her and be aggressive and that’s exactly what we done.

"We set up a bit different to what people have seen of us, but I think tactically we were outstanding today."
