Goals from Joseph McGrath, Rudi Molotnikov, Dean Cleland (X2) was enough to give the Wee Hibees a comfortable victory.

The opening 15 or so minutes were evenly matched with both teams defending their boxes well in the early proceedings.

Despite that, it was Hibs who would break the deadlock just shy of the 25th minute mark.

Joseph McGrath skipped his way past multiple Aberdeen defenders before having the time to unleash a powerful effort from distance which left the Dons goalkeeper no chance.

Hibs’ lead would only last a matter of minutes, however, with the Dons almost instantly finding an equaliser; a tap in after a fine ball was played across the face of goal.

Harry Wright was set up excellently on the flank with a brilliant ball over the top of the Dons defence, before crossing into the box for Dean Cleland who was denied well by the Aberdeen goalkeeper one-on-one.

Chances for both teams followed just before half-time with Wright coming closest for the Hibees, and the Aberdeen forwards drawing good saves out of the Hibees’ ‘keeper.

Darren McGregor’s youngsters were by far the superior team, though, in the second half putting the Dons under constant pressure.

Hibs would come close to netting a second of the evening when an effort came off the post.

Later on in the half Hibs were awarded a spot kick after Dean Cleland was brought down by an Aberdeen defender. Rudi Molotnikov stepped up and calmly slotted it into the far bottom corner as Hibs regained their lead.

Hibs would add a further two goals as Dean Cleland netted twice is quick succession in the later stages of the half to ensure Hibs would secure all three points despite the Dons netting a consolation late on.
