The 24-year-old became Nick Montgomery’s first signing of the January Transfer Window – signing on loan for the remainder of the season from Hertha Berlin.
The forward brings with him a wealth of experience and ability having come through the Lyon Academy, playing in the Europa League, Ligue 1 and Bundesliga with the likes of Lyon, Nice and Hertha Berlin.
After touching down in Edinburgh and signing on the dotted line – we caught up with Myziane to find out about how the move came about.
He told us: “I have had a difficult start to this season (at Hertha Berlin), so I was looking for a new project. I want to play, I am hungry to play and this project was perfect for me.
“It was easy for me to make my decision after speaking to the Manager (Nick Montgomery) in person. I saw that he really wanted me here, and he told me that I would be able to help the team a lot with my quality.
“He was really passionate about getting me to join – so I was really pleased to hear this and it made it a really easy decision for me.
“This is a great project for me to improve myself and prove to everybody that I can be an important player for this Club.
“I am really happy to come here and I am so excited to get started and to play with my new teammates.”

As well as playing at an extremely high level in Europe, the versatile forward also has international experience under his belt. Maolida made his senior international debut for Comoros at the end of 2023, scoring two goals in his first two games since registering for the international side who he qualifies for through his parents.
Before that, the forward represented France – the country of his birth – at youth level from U16s up until U21s. It was here where he first crossed paths with current Hibee, Elie Youan – and he admits that Elie’s influence made his decision to join Hibs much easier!
“The Club culture was also really important for me”, Maolida continued.
“Elie told me only good things. He said it was a good Club with a good environment and a lot of good people inside the Club. He said it would be easy for me to settle in and that conversation made it a very easy decision for me to make.”
So, what can Hibs fans expect from Myziane Maolida?
“I think my best position is a striker, but I can also play on the left-hand side. It is important to be able to play in a few positions and I have the quality to do so.
“I am a technical player, a team player – I can score goals but I like to get assists as well!”
