The 24-year-old joins on loan for the remainder of the 2023/24 campaign from the Bundesliga 2 club.
Maolida, who is more than comfortable on either wing or as a striker, signs with top pedigree. The forward was labelled a ‘teenage sensation’ after breaking through in Ligue 1 with Lyon, scoring his first UEFA Europa League and top-flight goals aged 18.
He’s made over 100 appearances during his time competing at the highest level of football in both France and Germany, moved for large transfer fees, and was capped by France’s youth sides from Under-16 to Under-21s.
During the 2023/24 campaign, he has featured in the Regionalliga Nordost for Hertha Berlin II.
The forward is also a full international for Comoros and has scored two goals in two games, most recently bagging the winner in a 1-0 win over Ghana in November 2023.

On the signing of Maolida, Hibernian FC Head Coach Nick Montgomery said: “Myziane is a very talented young player who has undoubted potential to play at the very highest level.
“For us to have the chance to sign a player of this calibre in January is an opportunity we worked hard to make happen, and we’re grateful to Hertha Berlin for agreeing to facilitate this loan.
“At 24 he has already moved to some big clubs but has found himself not playing regularly. He’s now hungry to get his career back on track. After numerous video calls, it was clear both parties really wanted to make this happen.
“Myziane can play centrally and wide, which is really important as we have been light in attacking options. I’m sure the supporters will be excited to see him in Hibs green and white for the rest of the season, and we will continue to search the market for additional signings.”
