“It was a well-deserved win” said Nick Montgomery as he reviewed Hibernian FC’s 2-0 win over Ross County in the cinch Premiership.
Second half goals from Myziane Maolida and Dylan Levitt sealed the victory, in what was another dominant performance at Easter Road.
When speaking to Hibs TV, our Head Coach reviewed the game and the last week of fixtures.
“It was a well-deserved win. It’s nice to end a big week with another three points.
“At the start of the week we wanted nine points, I felt like we should’ve had nine points and I don’t want to talk about why we didn’t do that, but we take seven and move forward. Momentum is building and performances have been very good.
“There were some tired legs out there tonight after Wednesday night. We were patient today and had composure when it was needed. In the second half we could’ve scored a couple of more goals.
“They were resilient, they put a lot of men behind the ball, it was difficult to break them down, and they’ve been on a good run, so all credit to Ross County for frustrating us. We know we can be better, we could’ve put more chances away and we will keep working on that. You have to be ruthless and clinical, and a lot of chances went begging again today but I’m sure one day we will score a hatful of goals.
“I take the 2-0 today and the clean sheet was really important. Marsh had one save to make and it was a big save. He's been top class since I came in and adds real composure at the back.”
That win moves Hibs up to sixth in the cinch Premiership table, but Montgomery’s focus isn’t on the league standings right now.
“Performances have been really good since the international boys came back and the boys we brought in during the transfer window gelled.
“We don’t look at the table because what’s important is that we don’t rely on anyone to get us results or decision to go for us. We focus on ourselves.
“We have to be more clinical, put the ball in the back of the net more, and make games more comfortable.
“Today we showed character, composure in key moments, and created chances. I’m happy with the performance.”
