By Hibernian FC

‘Sir’ David Gray has left many Hibs fans with the greatest footballing memory of their lives, and now he’s wanting to leave a lasting legacy to help people in the local community!

He made a pledge to support the Hibernian Community Foundation during his testimonial year, and to raise valuable funds for a cause close to his heart, he’s created a special, unique challenge for Hibernian FC supporters.

On Sunday 5 May, 2024*, David Gray will be cycling the route the Scottish Cup trophy made from Hampden Park to Easter Road Stadium in 2016, after scoring his injury time winner!

And there’s an opportunity for a limited number of Hibernian FC supporters to join him!

Funds raised will enable another 180 children with autism and other neurodiverse conditions play weekly football with Team United.

For young people with autism, stepping onto a football pitch can feel like entering a world that’s not designed for them. The sensory overload – from the blast of the whistle to the unpredictable flurry of movement – can be overwhelming. These incredible kids dream of playing football, being part of a team, and sharing the joy of the game. It’s at this crucial moment in their lives that specialised support and understanding become vital. And it's here that mainstream clubs often fall short.

Team United’s programmes help these children to learn more than just the game – they find confidence, friendships, and a sense of belonging on and off the pitch. With your help, Team United can extend their programmes of support for children aged 8 and above, levelling the playing field and fostering an environment where dreams of playing football feel possible again.
