“A game in hand is only worthwhile if you take the points” said Hibernian FC Head Coach Nick Montgomery as he looked ahead to Wednesday night’s cinch Premiership game against Ross County.
The Hibees come into this match in a four league game unbeaten run and will be looking to close the gap on St Mirren and Kilmarnock, who are in fourth and fifth respectively.
They take on a Ross County side, though, that have been performing well in Dingwall, fighting to get out of the Relegation Play-Off position.
With that in mind, Montgomery is under no illusions on how difficult this game will be.
“The Rangers game was reviewed Monday morning and we moved on straight away. We had some boys out training on Monday and a few boys recovering. We have to keep looking forward and know we have a difficult game on Wednesday night against Ross County.
“They’re a strong team, a physical team, they’re resolute and we had a difficult game against them recently. We don’t expect anything different this time.
“We have to turn up with the right mindset and the same mindset we’ve been showing the last four, five, six games. We know it’ll be difficult. We will prepare well.”
Our Head Coach has a slight selection headache ahead of him following our Scottish Cup exit against Rangers.
He will be without Nathan Moriah-Welsh, who saw red at the weekend, alongside three other central midfielders; Luke Amos, Josh Campbell, and Jake Doyle-Hayes.
Montgomery will still have Jordan Obita available for selection, despite him being sent off against Rangers, and was able to provide a positive update on two players that missed our game on Sunday.
“Lewis Miller was back in training today and Dylan Vente could be back as well. Dyl just rolled his ankle in training and there’s been a bit of swelling. He’s a real honest lad and he’s been in with the physios. He might have a chance for Wednesday if not I’m hopeful he will be back for Livingston.
“The squad is looking strong. We will put the best team out possible and try to get the result.”
