After joining the Club, new signing Stacey Papadopoulos said she was looking forward to playing football in Scotland and continuing her development at Hibernian.
Having previously visited Edinburgh, when the offer was made to join the club Papadopoulos admitted it was an easy decision to make.
“I’ve heard a lot about the league, and the quality it possesses. I came to Edinburgh with my partner on a three-day holiday and immediately fell in love with the city. We’re super excited to immerse ourselves in the culture and city a little more.”
Having decided to join the club before the end of the 2023/24 season, the defender also said she was impressed with how her new teammates ended their previous campaign.
“I kept up with a fair few results at the back end of last season and the team were getting some pretty good results and also unlucky in a few too.
“In one of my first meetings with Grant and Stewart, I said watching from afar, I felt like the team were moving in an upwards trajectory. That’s something I want to be a part of.
“I played in Europe a few years ago and learned so much from that experience. The motivation to be the best I can be is what brought me here.”
Aware of the support she would receive from fans at Meadowbank, Papadopoulos also gave an insight into what her new set of supporters and teammates could expect from her.
“I’m pretty quick, I love to get forward, but I also pride myself on my defensive game first and foremost. Hopefully, I’m able to impress the fans.
“I want to give my best for the team and make sure that we’re able to compete in every game, finish higher in the table and compete with the bigger sides.”
Finally, the 27-year-old said she had already prepared for the harsh Scottish forecasts – a far cry from the weather she experienced in Australia during her time with Western United and Calder United.
“I have just bought some really warm socks and gloves. I’ve also got about three scarves on rotation right now. I think that’s a good base to start, although I’ll probably have to invest in an umbrella when I get to Scotland!”
