David Gray is looking forward to the Edinburgh Derby on Sunday and believes it’s got all the makings of a “really good one”.

The Hibees come into this weekend in excellent form, unbeaten in 14 matches and four points ahead of Hearts in the league table.

When speaking to Hibs TV, Gray gave his thoughts on the encounter.

“I’m very excited. It’s a fixture that every one looks forward too. Two teams on the top of their game at the minute, and we’re in a different place from the last time we met at Easter Road.

“It’s got all the makings of a really good one, and it’s one the players and I are looking forward to.

“The players know what to expect. I’ve reminded the players that regardless of form or where we find ourselves in the league, when you play against your local rivals the game will have that added bit of spice to it. We know what it means to our supporters and in this city, and the players carry that responsibility.

“We go into the game full of confidence. We’re in a good place, our home form has been good, and we want to maintain that.”

Hibs currently sit fourth in the league table, one point behind Aberdeen, meaning Sunday’s lunch-time kick-off provides us with an opportunity to catch them.

“Our full focus, as I’ve said for a number of weeks is to catch the team in front of us,” said Gray.

“We’re one point behind Aberdeen and we’ve got an opportunity at home to get three points.

“I know it’s a derby, and the magnitude of the match will be on that, but the focus has to be on the same thing, which is chasing down the team in front.”
