David Gray’s side are on a magnificent run of late and have been breaking records in the process.

Sunday’s magnificent result against Hearts continued our fantastic form meaning we’re now unbeaten in 15 in all competitions, losing just once in our last 18 matches!

In that unbeaten run, we’ve now gone 13 games unbeaten in the top-flight, an impressive feat in itself!

Eagle-eyed supporters will have seen a number of stats that were flying around over the weekend, so we took a deep-dive through the history books to see what records have been broken.

The last time Hibs have gone 13 league games unbeaten in the top-flight was back in 1988 under the guidance of Alex Miller. That started mid-April with a draw against Rangers, and continued until October as we beat Celtic 3-1.

That run saw us win six matches and draw seven, however, it spanned across two seasons – the end of the 1987/88 campaign and the beginning of 1988/89.

The last time we had a top-flight 13-game run in the same season was all the way back in 1949/50!

Managed by Hugh Shaw, the ‘Famous Five’ were competing at the very top of Scottish football, and that season narrowly missed out on the league title.

The run started with a 2-0 win over Aberdeen and finished with a 1-0 away win at Clyde. During that period, we won 12 of the 13 matches!

Our win against Hearts on Sunday also saw us win back-to-back Edinburgh Derbys in the same season since 2009.

Mixu Paatelainen was the man at the helm as we beat our city rivals 1-0 at Easter Road thanks to a goal from Steven Fletcher, and 1-0 at Tynecastle after a Derek Riordan penalty.

It wasn’t the first time since then, though, that we won back-to-back Edinburgh Derbys. We did that in 2017 over two seasons at Easter Road. The first was in the Scottish Cup in February 2017 as we won 3-1, and the second was October 2017 as we won 1-0 thanks to a goal from Simon Murray.

One thing’s for certain, David Gray’s men are on an inspired run of form, one that will be remembered for some time.
