An attack-minded right-back, Tom's bright start to the 2019-20 season was disrupted by an injury sustained in a bad tackle during a head to head with St Mirren.
Thereafter he struggled to regain a first-team spot thanks to the form of Jason Naismith and Paul McGinn, alongside the return to fitness of club captain David Gray.
In September 2020, Tom agreed a loan deal with WIgan Athletic that run until the turn of the year. Though The Latics were keen to extend it, he agreed another loan with ambitious League Two outfit Salford City in January 2021.
