Bio

A creative playmaker with an eye for goal, and a man for the big moments - Emiliano Marcondes joined us on loan from AFC Bournemouth in January 2024!

The Dane joins the Hibees with over 250 senior appearances to his name, featuring in some of Europe’s biggest competitions and contributing some massive goals in his career.

Born in Hvidovre – in a suburb of Copenhagen, Emiliano spent the early part of his career at his local club, before joining FC Nordsjaelland’s Academy at the age of 15.

Marcondes progressed through the ranks of Nordsjaelland’s youth system before making his senior First Team debut in April 2013 as an 18-year-old.

The attacking midfielder continued his development the following season, making 15 more appearances, featuring in the Champions League and Europa League qualifying rounds and scoring his first competitive goal in May 2014.

Marcondes kicked on the following season, cementing himself as a regular starter for the Danish side. The forward went on to play 131 games (all comps), scoring 42 times and adding a further 15 assists during his time in Denmark.

During his final year with Nordsjaelland, the forward was voted the Superliga Player of the Year before securing a move to the English Championship to join Brentford in January 2018.

He made his Brentford debut in the FA Cup later that month and featured 12 times in the Championship during the remainder of the 2017/18 season.

Unfortunately, the forward’s playing time was hampered by injury the following campaign, and he moved back to Denmark to join Midtjylland on loan. Marcondes scored twice in 12 Superliga appearances, helping Midtjylland on their way to clinch the league title before returning to Brentford in January 2019.

Marcondes helped The Bees reach the Play-Off Final that season, scoring in the semi-final against Swansea City, before losing the final to Fulham in extra-time.

A man for the big games, Marcondes played a key role in Brentford’s promotion winning season in 2020/21. Featuring predominantly in midfield, Marcondes scored three times in 40 appearances including a dramatic bicycle kick in the EFL Cup as Brentford reached the semi-finals of the competition.

Later that season, the Dane then bagged the winning goal in the Play-Off Final to help Brentford win promotion to the English top-flight for the first time in 74 years.

After Marcondes’s contracted expired in the summer, he penned a three-year deal with AFC Bournemouth in July 2021.

This time, the attacker helped The Cherries earn promotion back to Premier League – scoring five times in 21 games, including a hat-trick in the FA Cup Third Round against Yeovil Town.

Marcondes made his Premier League debut at Anfield against Liverpool in August 2022, but struggled to maintain his spot in the First Team before re-joining Nordsjaelland on loan for the remainder of last season.

On the international stage, Marcondes has been capped for Denmark at every level from Under-16s to Under 23s, scoring 10 times in over 40 appearances.
