Bio

Myziane Maolida joined the Hibees on loan from Hertha Berlin and brings with him a wealth of experience, having played in the Bundesliga, Ligue 1 and in the Europa League since he first burst onto the scene as a teenager.

Born in Paris, France in 1999, Maolida played locally in the French capital before joining the Lyon Academy aged 15.

The talented teenager rose through the Academy ranks, featuring for the U19s in the UEFA Youth League and for Lyon B, before breaking into the First Team squad as an 18-year-old.

Maolida made his senior Lyon debut on the opening day of the 2017/18 campaign, coming off the bench in a 4-0 over RC Strasbourg in August. Three months later he scored his first goal for the Club, netting against Limassol in the Europa League, before bagging his first Ligue 1 goal three days later in a 5-0 win over Nice.

The forward went on to play 22 times in his breakthrough season for Lyon, before impressing for the French U19s at the European Championship in Finland – helping France reach the semi-finals of the competition. That Summer sparked major transfer interest in the teenager, with Newcastle, Seville and Real Betis all linked to the striker.

In the end, Maolida opted to stay in France joining OGC Nice on a five-year deal in August 2018 for a fee of around €10 million, with a reported sell-on fee of an eye-watering €100 million.

Maolida’s first season on the Côte d'Azur was hampered by injury, with the forward managing 15 games (all comps) in a frustrating first spell.

The French Youth international went on to complete two more full seasons at Nice, scoring five times, adding seven assists and representing the French side in the UEFA Europa League Group Stages.

In August 2021, The Parisian swapped France for Germany – joining Hertha Berlin on a four-year deal and made an immediate impact, scoring on his Bundesliga debut in a 3-1 victory against VfL Bochum.

Maolida helped the Berlin club avoid relegation that season, however, he struggled to maintain a regular place in the starting XI and was loaned out back to France in January 2023, joining Stade de Reims.

The forward played 10 times during the remainder of the 2022/23 campaign in France, scoring once before re-joining his parent Club Hertha Berlin in summer 2023.

As previously mentioned, Myziane Maolida also has international experience, representing France Youth sides from Under-16 up to Under-21 level. During his time within the France international set-up, he played alongside current Hibee – Elie Youan! The pair played together at both France U19 and U21 level and will now link up again together in Hibs green and white!

In November 2023, Maolida made his senior international debut for Comoros – who he qualifies through his parents. Once again, the forward hit the ground running – scoring on his debut in a 4-2 win over Central African Republican in a World Cup Qualifier. Four days later, he was on target again – this time netting the winner in a 1-0 win over Ghana.
