Rowena Armitage

Rowena Armitage signed her first professional contract with the Club in April 2025!

The young keeper made her senior debut in October 2023 aged just 15, appearing as a second-half substitute versus Aberdeen in the Sky Sports Cup last 16 at Meadowbank Stadium.

Impressing in the Hibs Academy, a loan move to Montrose materialised during the 2024/25 season and allowed Armitage the opportunity to experience topflight football as she became a key player in the Gable Endies’ second Scottish Women’s Premier League campaign.

At just 16 years old, the goalkeeper was included in the SWPL Team of the Week following a top performance against Partick Thistle in October 2024. She made crucial six saves as Montrose held on for a vital point against the Maryhill outfit.

Recalled at times as emergency cover throughout the campaign, the youngster would be reinstated entirely during the Hibees’ enthralling title race run due to an injury suffered by loanee keeper Erin Clachers.

Armitage was on the bench frequently as Hibs pushed on towards title glory and was on the bench at Ibrox on the day Hibs Women sealed their first league title in almost two decades.

On the international stage, Armitage has regularly been selected in the Scotland Women’s Under-17s squad – receiving five call-ups in total across the 2024/25 campaign – and notably started all three of her nation’s 2025 MIMA Cup matches in Spain.
