Bio
Nathan Moriah-Welsh joined the Hibees in January 2024 from English side AFC Bournemouth.
A powerful, energetic midfielder with an eye for picking a pass, 21-year-old Nathan Moriah-Welsh has swapped the south coast of England for the Scottish Capital – joining the Hibees on a two-a-half year deal.
Born in Chelsea, London – Nathan spent his early youth career at Chelsea before spells Brentford and Reading followed. At 16-years of age, he made the move to AFC Bournemouth in 2018, helping The Cherries reach the quarter-finals for the FA Youth Cup in his first season.
At 19, Moriah-Welsh made his Bournemouth debut, playing the full 90 minutes in a 3-1 victory over Yeovil Town – the first of two senior appearances for The Cherries under Scott Parker during the 2021/22 campaign.
The following season, the midfielder spent the year at Newport County in a search for more regular minutes playing senior football.
During his time with the English League Two side, Moriah-Welsh made 46 appearances across the league, FA Cup, EFL Trophy and League Cup – scoring three goals which all came in the league campaign.
Although Nathan was born in England, the midfielder qualifies to play international football for Guyana – representing the South American country 14 times so far during his career.
He received his first call-up to the Guyana National Team in March 2021, making his debut against the Bahamas in a 4-0 victory later that month.
Since then, the youngster has gone on to captain his country, and has three goals to-date for the South American outfit.
